Moments of Finding God Right Where We Are

If you come across this book and begin to skim through it, you might easily assume it is merely a compilation of personal anecdotes and reflections. Undoubtedly, there are numerous books that discuss life, family, and relationships.

If you allow it, this book can be more than that. It can be a guide to strengthen your journey with the Holy Spirit.

Featuring ten chapters that cover ten distinct topics for your spiritual journey, this book can also function as your devotional. Wherever you are right now or whatever you’re going through, I hope this helps you find God right where you are.

Excerpts:

I have fallen into a peace that it is okay not to be okay. It is okay to sit for a spell before continuing down the road.

I continued to shop, and when almost done, I overheard him an aisle over. “Mom, we need that God shed.” Without looking, I knew exactly what he was talking about. It had to be the nativity. I giggled to myself. He was young, he was a farm boy, but most of all, he was innocent—a God shed. Through the conversation, it appeared that he “needed” the nativity to share it with his brother—something about adding it to his collection. I love the simple, uncluttered view he had of the manger scene. We need it. It’s necessary. It’s meant to be shared. I have nothing against Christmas movies on TV, but I have everything against them. They are all about love. They did get that right, but unfortunately, the majority of them forget to include the One who is love and the One who brought love. I only wish my view of the nativity was that simple and that I shared his urgency to share the God shed. Thanks, Caleb.

We stand at the front of the church. We commit; we say the vows, and the gun goes off. The race begins. The race of alarm clocks, meal preparation, deadlines, due dates, shared moments, and plans. They pass, and before long, the years are a blur. “Remember when” becomes a staple in our vocabulary as lines and creases slowly edge onto our faces. Our wardrobe expands to accommodate our waistlines. Retirement becomes a reality. More plans are made. Life flies by.  And the day comes. Your membership has arrived. And just like that, the last casserole dish is washed. The last thank you is sealed and placed in the box. The house is quiet. You are alone in your new club.

Ordinary Day Remarkable God

This is not a typical devotional book. There is no ten-step program inside to better yourself. It is not a deep theological study. It is not an end to all trials or an answer to all problems.

This book is a collection of stories, prayers, and reflections. They are honest, vulnerable, sometimes dramatic, sometimes humorous, and sometimes sad, but they are real. They point to Him. No matter what adventures we travel through, our Maker and Creator is always with us. He isn’t looking for extraordinary people. He is not looking for the exceptional and the elite. He is the exceptional and the elite. He is just wanting us to walk alongside Him.
