Spread the love

Rough waters, heavy clouds, uncontrollable winds, uncontainable elements, darkness, chaos, panic.

It doesn’t matter the season, the situation, the tragedy, the decade; it resembles the same.  Sinking, overwhelming despair, confusion, loss of hope, and the thought, “I can’t do this anymore.  I can’t hold myself up amongst these relentless waves.  I’m sinking.  Jesus, I. Can’t.”

1999…2007…2010…2014…2018…2020…2024.

But yet, through the news you never wanted to hear, the diagnoses, the treatment plans, the failures, struggling relationships, the tears, the mourning, the doubts, the engulfing pain, the thought that things will never be right again…there are victories, rescuers, words of hope and encouragement, arms to hold us up and joy that comes in the “mourning.”

His answers, His response, His reply, His presence will always be found in the arm outstretched through the deep, waiting to pull us up, to come to him so that we might receive rest for our very souls.

The hope.

“Never again will death have the last word.  When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive, he brings God down to us.” Romans 6:9,10 The MSG

Stop.  Breathe.  Look up.  Believe and take the hand reaching for you.

There is hope.

His name is Jesus.
